In today's Amarillo Globe News, I noticed a letter:”Why not put cameras to a citywide vote?” I read the letter and a few of the comments. I have also been keeping up with the many articles and letters to the newspaper over the last few months or so. I felt like speaking my mind on the red light camera issue.

Julie Ostercamp -- October 20, 1976 - December 12,2008 Print E-mail

I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and well wishes.

Things have been hard the last few days for me. I lost my best friend to senseless violence and it's been an up and down rollercoaster since then.
I know everyone tells me to quit beating myself up over this, because there was nothing I could have done. I know that, but no matter how much I try to believe that, I still wish I would have had the courage to tell her how I feel and maybe could have changed things.
I love my friends and all of her friends that I am just getting to know. You are all wonderful and your friendship does so much for me. Sometimes Julie would tell me she had no friends, but I know that she was just feeling bad about the situation at the time. From all the love I see see online, all those that have called me, that have talked with her family, etc..., I know that is not true, and deep down she knew it too.

Julie was and is one of the kindest and friendliest people I know. If you just asked her, she was there for you. She helped her friends out all the time and would do whatever she felt she had to do to help out and get her freinds through the hard times. She spent so much time doing things for her friends. And everyone would tell you that, she did things from the heart. She spent her time and money and never asked to be paid back for it.

I have known Julie for the last 8 years. We lived together for 5 of those years. We were engaged for over 3 of those years. We had a few problems and thought it best to stay friends and split up about 3 years ago. We have always been close and could always tell each other anything. She is so stubborn and would get in your face if she felt she had to. I love that about her. She was not afraid to make sure she got her point across to you. I miss her so much an have for the past 3 years, and she will forever have a huge part of my heart, no matter what the future has in store for me, she is always there. I know she is there for me still and looking out for me right now.

I am doing my best to remember all the good times and know that she is still going to be there for me and make sure I'm alright. I know she is still there for all of her friends and family too.

We all miss you Jules, Julie, sweetheart, baby. I love you, I miss you and I will never forget you until the second I pass on too. You have been my closest and best friend since the day we met. Your love is the only thing that has kept me from going insane these past few days. Thank you baby, I love you!!!!! ;p
