The Amarillo Civic Center Welcomes World Famous Comedian JEFF DUNHAM on his 2010 International “Identity Crisis Tour” Thursday, July 29th!
On Thursday, July 29th the Civic Center in Amarillo, TX welcomes the reigning king of comedy Jeff Dunham as he blasts into a jam-packed 2010 with a second Europe tour, first book, movie role & more.
Since rising to the pinnacle of stand-up comedy success, Jeff Dunham has continued to break records, set landmarks, and expand his reach and appeal while also enjoying the love and loyalty of many millions of fans. And his momentum shows no signs of slowing down, or as the Canada Globe and Mail recently observed, “the Jeff Dunham franchise thrives.”
After being named the highest-grossing live performance comedian by Pollstar for the second continuous year, Dunham continues to pack and sell out arenas, theaters and other major venues across North America on his “Identity Crisis” tour.
Following his first overseas tour of Europe last fall in which he barnstormed prestigious venues in five capital cities to packed and delighted houses, Dunham returned in April to perform in Amsterdam, Holland (where tickets for three nights sold out immediately) and hit England, Ireland and Scotland in a six-city visit that will be capped by a show at London’s world-renowned O2 Arena. “I never expected the international thing,” Dunham marveled in a Los Angeles Times feature story last November. “We sold out this arena in Copenhagen, where English is a second language, and people were shouting out lines for Bubba J.”
Recently, Dunham was inducted into the NACA (National Association of College Activities) Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of such fellow top entertainers as Simon & Garfunkel, Dave Chappelle and Neil Diamond. On May 18, he released the DVD of “The Jeff Dunham Show,” which set Comedy Central ratings records when it debuted last fall. It joins his catalog of three previous DVDs from his top-rated Comedy Central specials that have collectively sold more than five million copies to date.
Dunham also recently shot a guest-starring role in the upcoming Jay Roach-directed movie “Dinner For Schmucks,” which is expected to hit theaters later this year. In October, Dutton will publish his first book, “All By My Selves: Walter, Peanut, Achmed and Me,” a unique autobiography in which Dunham tells his life story with the assistance and commentary of his cast of comedic characters.
After years of brisk sales at concert venues and on his website, Jeff Dunham merchandise is now available at retail chains across the country, including FYE, Hastings, Kohl’s, and WalMart. A special “Dads and Grads” retail program will roll out later this year that connects all his popular consumer products, including his DVDs “Arguing With Myself,” “Spark of Insanity,” “A Very Special Christmas Special” and the newly release sitcom series.
The secret to becoming so popular that, as The New York Times notes, “’Huge’ is somehow an understatement,” is really hardly any secret at all, but simply common entertainment sense. “My responsibility is to give people what they paid for,” he explains. “I'm a stand-up comedian doing what I hope the audience thinks is good material.”
Dunham continues to enjoy his nonstop comedic activities. “To me, hard work which results in success at the end is always fun and exciting. More than half the fun of the race is getting to the finish line.”
