Bands and Piracy Print E-mail

A couple of weeks ago, I stopped by a friend’s house and we had a few beers and the conversation came back to the same old discussion about bands, copyright and piracy. He was in several local bands back in the 90’s up to about ’05, and he’s a huge defender of the big labels and blames piracy as to why he never made it big and famous.  We had a long talk and it had some agreements but most of the time we just didn’t see eye to eye on the situation. Now bear in mind he will not change his mind once it’s set, and if you disagree on just one thing you are the enemy, and anything you have to say is just plain wrong.

We get the occasional requests for those looking to join a new band or bands looking for new members.  Someone just sent me an email about a website that specializes in this area. Check out BandMix if you are in need of a band or new members. You can search through hundreds of local classifieds from musicians in the local area. You can also search in other areas if you want to try out a new location as well.

This began as a post on the Forum, but I kept on typing and thought this would be a better post on the site itself!!

It's time for me to rant about the local music scene again, and put out a request for others to get involved in the local scene!!

Those of you that have been with me for a while know that sometimes I go off and get pissed about the local music scene and the attitudes that go with it. Well I'm heading back to some of that again, because some dumbass pushed my buttons tonight.

Rock Music in Amarillo Print E-mail

I see a lot of people adding comments here about how the rock music scene sucks. They bitch and moan about it, but no one is taking the lead and making it happen. If nobody is going to support all these rock concerts, then the badass rock bands are not going to come to Amarillo. When one band goes on tour with another band or bands and they say that they had a low turn out for this show, then the other bands will not book anything here and they pass that info along to even more bands. If you are not going to go see these bands in concert, then don't be bitching when they don't come back and all you get is Cinderella and Warrant. These are old school, big hair bands that can still put on some of the best rock shows around. It really ticks me off when someone bitches about a concert like this and then bitches because we are not getting those $200 ticket concerts here. Do you really think Amarillo will pay $200 or even $100 for a concert ticket? Really, do you?

Some of you may remember me from such bands as Copper, Three Pound Cock, Tall, Hinged, & FingerBangMisfire. Or you may not? Hell you might even dislike me? Who Knows? and really Who cares? These are some of the things that spark conversations like the one I had with my friend Jeff from Project Amarillo.

Live in '08? Print E-mail

I'm sure all of you that listen to the rock stations in Amarillo have heard that Live in '08 is coming soon. They have not yet announced the bands that will be there or the date of the show. I've been asked many times about this and all I know at this time is that there is going to be a Live in '08, but I don't know any more than that. As soon as I do hear anything, it will be listed here.

If you do know more information, please get in touch with me so that I can get the word out! Or if you want to tell us yourself, register on Project Amarillo and add your own post!!!

I wonder why you guys are saying we don't have a music scene here in Amarillo. Why don't you look at the right side of this website and see all the great bands that are having concerts. Maybe you should go see these guys and quit your bitching.

I have a question to ask everyone.
Why is everyone always bitching about the s****y music scene?
If you want it to get better, then maybe you should be doing something about it.
I'm so tired of hearing you pesimistic asses whining all the time. Get on the optomistic side and talk about the good stuff going on and go see these guy play. If you go see them then the scene will get better. It just takes time and everyone needs to get involved.
