As some of you may have noticed, I have changed out the bands in the background of Project Amarillo. I looked through the folders of images that I have and I really don't have a lot to work with for the background. I am looking for bands playing at Amarillo venues and want lots of images of live shows to add to the background. I will be making a random scripting to automatically change out the backgrounds soon and the new photos may be used on the new backgrounds. Send your images to

. Please make sure they are at least 600 pixels wide and 450 pixels tall. Anything smaller will end up looking blurry when enlarged. Also, make sure that the photo is a good quality. Any images that are not in focus and everything is a blur will probably not be used. Even if you are not in a bands, send me photos of bands playing in local spots and get them on the new Project Amarillo background.
Hey Guys, there's something new at Project Amarillo.
Maybe you wanted to know where the latest comments posted were, but didn't want to spend hours looking through all the articles. Now, if you look in the left column just above the upcoming sports, you'll see we added a new area for the latest comments! I shows the article the comments was posted to, a short snip of the comment, the date and time it was posted, and a "more..." link that takes you directly to the comment!
I managed to track down a bit of code to show the latest comments from the site. I was a bit buggy and I had to work on it a bit. I think it's working fine now, but let me know if not, or if it seems to work a little bit strange! I will be moving it to a better position soon and maybe change up how it looks too.
The Bands Page lists lots of local bands, and gives links to their page here at Project Amarillo, their websites, and Myspace pages. I have been working on something new to replace this page. It will give much more information about the bands and musicians, rather than just a bunch of links. The current page is still setup with the old Project Amarillo layout and looks odd when compared to the rest of the site.
The links area of Project Amarillo has been ignored for a long time and it's time that changed. There's been a few updates to the look of the links area. A few new links have been added, and a few broken links removed too. A new option has been added to the menu for registered members. They can now add links to Project Amarillo. There are several categories to choose from, and more will be added very soon. If you wish to add some new links, then get registered and start adding them now! I'm sorry, only registered members will be allowed to add links. This will be to keep the spam bots from flooding us with their bad links. Registraton is free, and very fast. You enter your name, pick a username, and enter a valid email, and password. In about a minute you will receive an email to activate your membership, then you can start adding links, articles, new events to the calendar, and more...
If you are already a member, just log in and click on the "+ Link" to start adding your links! Let's get all the links we can so that Amarillo has a place to go to get to all websites related to Amarillo and music!!!
With the article in the Amarillo Globe News on Sunday, the hits skyrocketed in the 12,000 range. And we have a lot of newcomers to Project Amarillo. We welcome you to the site, and hope you enjoy everything. Also, your input is taken seriously. The biggest complaint that I received was about the images in the background. I was told that it's hard to read the text over the top of them. I considered going ahead and removing them and leaving a solid black background. But I have had many compliments in the past on the images as well. I don't want to remove the background if many would rather keep it there. So...
I'm putting it to a vote! There is a post on the forum / message boards asking for your votes on the decision. I want to know if you want me to keep them, take them out, or something else. Get over there and vote. Anyone can vote, you need not register! The winning vote will decide the fate of Project Amarillo's background!
We had a couple of folks upset that they had to give an email in order to leave a comment on articles. The email field was not displayed on the comments, but we felt it might keep some of you from adding comments, so it was taken off the comment form! Now you type in your name or alias and your comment and click save to add a new comment.
Registered members, that are logged in, will see the name field prefilled with their username.
We have a whole new look. Many things have changed a lot. All of the old articles are still here, but you will notice that what shows up on the category pages have been shortened, and you need to click the title, or the Read More... text below each article, to see the complete articles. There are a few new buttons under the articles for you to use. They are on the right side on the full article display. There is a quote button that gives the code to add a link to the article on your own site, and it shows you the display of how it will look. The print button brings up a printable version of the article. The email button will pop up a window that will let you send an email about the article to a friend. The del.icio.us button will allow you to add a bookmark there, and there will soon be others for Digg and other bookmarking sites too. The related button will give a list of articles that are related. If there are comments, the comments link will display how many, and if not then it will tell you add the first comment. The comments are now text only. The reason why, is to keep the spam off the site. We were beginning to get about 20 per week that were spammy links to bad sites. The comments are displayed when you either click the read more link or comment links. If you click the article title, you will still need to click the comments link to see or add comments. The box to add comments is collapsed and you just need to click the + show form to see the comments form.
Many of the bands already know, and some of the rest of you too, but a new bands page is in the works at Project Amarillo. This will be replacing the current bands page. It's a bit more fancy, and I think it will give you more info on the local bands than the links page that is up currently. I'm still looking for more bands to add to this page. I have contacted, or attempted to contact, all of the bands on the current page. If I didn't get in touch with you, or you are not there, but would like to be added, hit the contact page and let me know. I'm looking to have the most up to date band information with each and every band and musician in the Amarillo Area!
After many late nights of banging my head on my desk trying to get the new coding working, I have decided to delay the change to the new version of Project Amarillo. There are still too many bugs that need to be fixed and I will be waiting for a newer version of the programming to be released. Until then, we are staying with the current format.
